The CCB Jazz Ensemble

The Chatham Community Band Jazz Ensemble (CCB - Jazz), a venture of the Chatham Community Band, provides an opportunity for people of all ages to renew or continue to pursue their interest in jazz and swing music.

CCB - Jazz Meets weekly to rehearse and perform Big Band Swing Music including songs from the 1930's to the present. Members have an opportunity to improvise jazz solos, although improvisation ability is not required.

MUSICIANS WANTED

Minimum proficiency is required on saxophone, trumpet, trombone, piano, bass, guitar, or drum set. Contact Director George Estes for details.

The CCB-Jazz players are not professional musicians. Members work as accountants, teachers, journalists, and many other professions. Some are accomplished musicians who have played all their lives, others have rediscovered their instruments after years of neglect. The only requirements for membership are a reasonable proficiency on your instrument, ability to read music, and a desire to perform jazz and swing music.

The CCB-Jazz Ensemble provides it's members with the opportunity to:

  1. Play jazz and swing music in a big band setting.
  2. Maintain or develop skills in jazz ensemble performance.
  3. Maintain or develop jazz improvisation ability, if desired.
  4. Perform as an ensemble for community events and concerts.
